Premium wall and floor finishes for architects and designers. The old site scored 37 on Google's speed test and barely worked on phones. I rebuilt it with 20 finishes sorted by where you use them and 11 project pages, plus articles the team publishes themselves. Speed score went from 37 to 97, and 10 articles now bring in search traffic.
Who they are
The problem
The old website didn't do the work justice, and hardly anyone was finding it. Google's speed test gave it 37 out of 100, and it didn't work properly on phones, which is where most of their traffic comes from.
There were no articles at all, so when someone searched for "microcement flooring", Colortale never showed up.
What I built
Their 20 finishes are now sorted by where you can use them, on walls, floors or furniture, because that's what a designer actually needs to know. Each of their 11 completed projects has its own page, including Wyndham Grand Udaipur and Emaar Marbella.
Photos of these materials never look like much, so the homepage lets you slide through the finishes yourself, with short videos showing how each one catches the light.
Big photos usually make a site slow, and the easy fix is to drop the quality. That would have defeated the point here, so I handled it differently: the site loads quickly and the photos still look right.
Nobody searches for "Colortale" by name. They search "microcement vs microconcrete" or "can lime wash go over tiles". The site now answers those questions, and the team publishes new articles themselves without a developer.
Where it landed
Speed score went from 37 to 97. From no articles to 10 pages bringing in search traffic. And it works on phones now.
